Boyzone singer and actor Keith Duffy has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery in recognition of his fundraising work and activism for children with autism.

Since 2001, Duffy, a Patron for Irish Autism Action (IAA), has helped to raise almost 4 million euro for autistic children and their families.

Honorary Secretary of the RCSI Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, Catherine Clune Mulvaney, said: "I recommend Mr Keith Duffy for the highest honour this Faculty can bestow for his work as an outstanding advocate for children with autism and their families."

She continued: "His hard work and determination have raised vital funding for specialist service development across the country, increasing the availability of much needed education programmes and support structures."

She added: "Keith continues to inspire families and provide hope for those who are faced with the initial shock of an autism diagnosis, by raising awareness about autism in the public domain and highlighting the need for early intervention, appropriate education and care for children with autism."

Keith was on ITV's Lorraine programme this morning talking about his guest role in the comedy series 'Job Lot,' as well as Boyzone's forthcoming Motown album. You can catch up with that interview on ITV's website here; www.itv.com/lorraine/

Keith's episode of Job Lot goes out tomorrow (which happens to coincide with his 40th birthday!) at 10.00pm on ITV2.

ITV has confirmed more details about The Job Lot's second season – and it includes the casting of Boyzone star Keith Duffy.

The sitcom will begin its second run on ITV2 in the autumn before screening later on the main channel, with Russell Tovey and Sarah Hadland returning as Karl and Trish.

Casualty's Laura Aikman has joined the cast as new Deputy Manager Natalie, while Sophie McShera, Tony Maudsley, Jo Enright, Martin Marquez, Angela Curran and Adeel Akhtar all return.

Among the second season's guest stars are Meera Syal as a CEO of a Midlands hot tub company and Keith Duffy as a telephone engineer with a 'roving eye'.

"It's great to welcome back the brilliantly beleaguered workers and job seekers of the Brownall Job Centre - and this time round with some excellent guest stars, who'll be joining our regular ensemble comedy cast," said Elaine Bedell, ITV's director of comedy & entertainment.

Since 2006, Keith Duffy has built up an acting career, playing roles in shows such as Fair City, Coronation Street and Love/Hate, as well as appearing on stage in the likes of John B Keane's Big Maggie.

Boyzone singer and Coronation Street actor Keith Duffy is to appear in a revival of Billy Roche’s A Handful of Stars at Theatre503 in south London next month.

He will play Irish boxer Stapler in the show, marking his professional stage debut.

Theatre503 artistic director Paul Robinson will direct the production from April 30 to May 24, with press night on May 2.

A Handful of Stars premiered at London’s Bush Theatre in 1988 and was revived at the same venue as part of Roche’s Wexford Trilogy of plays in 1992.

The Theatre503 revival is part of the venue’s series that stages productions of neglected modern classics.

Design is by Signe Beckmann, composition by Simon Slater and lighting by Hartley T A Kemp.
